Kris Kristofferson – Florence, Indiana

Kris Kristofferson and the Strangers performed at the Belterra Casino Resort and Spa, Florence, Indiana on Saturday the 16th of November 2019. Our group collects gig memories to share with fans who weren’t able to attend and to save memories.

Doug Colosio, who plays keys in the band, took this snap from inside the venue

Please Don’t Tell Me

This video clip is from the end of the set. Kris has ended his shows for many years with this song, Please Don’t Tell Me How the Story Ends. In recent years, some have speculated that the song has implied that Kris was about to give up touring.

At 83, he certainly has many more gigs behind him than in front of him, but for now, he is not showing any signs of slowing down. 2018 and 2019 might be the busiest touring years to date. He has toured Europe (a few times), Australia, New Zealand, and covered most of the USA (a few times).

Accompanied by Scott Joss, Doug Colosio and Jeff Ingraham (some of the Strangers who backed Merle Haggard), his recent gigs have a different atmosphere to the previously solo gigs – But then Kris’ live performances have evolved over the years. He performed with backing bands in the 80s, was one of the legendary Highwaymen – The supergroup with Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings, and he has performed with an endless list of artists in between.

Fan Feedback

  • Great concert, love seeing this master of music, appreciates his audience, sees how much he is loved by all of us
  • Actually, I hate seeing him this way. I love him, admire him, think he’s the greatest songwriter ever, but, it’s time
  • This was tonight’s concert in Florence, Indiana….absolutely awesome show!
  • He makes me sad now
  • Beautiful!

I guess we are all getting older, and this can have unpleasant side effects. For many fans, Kris has been that “man in the mirror” – The man does have a knack of showing us who we are.

The very thought of Kris ever not performing on stage or being with us gives me the chills. I think I might feel, for now, that I’m with him – I don’t want to know when the story ends.

If you have any fans pics, vids or comments to add to this, please send them in.

Please Don’t Tell Me How the Story Ends

This could be our last good night together
We may never pass this way again
Just let me enjoy it ’til it’s over, or forever
Please don’t tell me how the story ends

See the way our shadows come together
Softer than your fingers on my skin
Someday these may be all we remember of each other
Please don’t tell me how the story ends

Never’s just the echo of forever
Lonesome as a love that might have been
Let me go on lovin’ and believin’ ’til it’s over
Please don’t tell me how the story ends

Kris Kristofferson Fargo 2019

Kris Kristofferson Fargo 2019 – What a night!

The gig at the Fargo Theatre went as smooth as a polished train. The evening never stopped there. After a band member from Dempsey’s left a note on the bus, Kris and his wife went downtown and kept the evening alive – Thrilling fans and friends alike.

Ed Gonzales said, “Saw him (Kris) again in Fargo last night. Feeling Nostalgic.
48 years of listening to his songs. The voice isn’t the same, but the words don’t change. He is truly an amazing storyteller. To miss his Willie Nelson award next week so as not to have to cancel a show demonstrates his dedication to the music. He sure doesn’t need to do this for the money. Truly a wonderful man and legacy.

It was a wonderful evening, and Doug Colosio shared this pic that Lisa Kristofferson took from the wings.

Night Out in Fargo

Kris and Lisa Kristofferson went out after the gig. The story goes that they arrived at Dempsey’s around 11.30 pm, and Kris joined the band, 32 Below, for some stage time.

Kristofferson, Wellington 2019

Kris Kristofferson Wellington 2019 – with the Strangers at the Michael Fowler Centre on 11 October.

Ticket stub

Judy Hefford is a long time Kris Fan. She attended the gig in Wellington on 11 October 2019 and is now (like many others), a dedicated Scott Joss. Scott seems to have won as many many fans on his Australia/New Zealand tour as he did in Europe. People warm to him and his wife, Judy. They are known for being a generous, open and friendly couple. Oh, did I mention that Scott Joss is a helluva fiddler, too? Judy told Scott’s fan group

After seeing Scott’s recent posts would like to share some of my thoughts on going to the show in Wellington, N Z. (My first live show since seeing Jim Reeves!) I thought I was crossing something off my bucket list, but it’s still on there – to see Kris, and Scott, again! Any chance I get, Kris is just so unbelievably great.

Senator Scott Brown was in the Audience

The pictures in his tweet about the evening show just how special this night was to him as well as Kris Kristofferson and the whole lineup

As has been suggested, I spoke to Judy who was standing alone at the merchandise counter, she immediately asked my name and chatted like we were old friends, just so nice and friendly!

The Michael Fowler Centre was fully booked, and the acoustics are great. Kris’s voice was stronger than I had expected. He didn’t move around like he used to, but each time he smiled or ‘sparked’ the audience erupted so loudly – NZ audiences are renown for being reserved – But not this time.

Nobody around me seemed to know who Scott was, but during intermission, all were talking about how good he was. And his smile! I was proud to be able to tell them about him and Judy. Scott made a huge number of fans that night. His new CD sold out, apparently by the 2nd concert. I tried several shops the next day to get it and although none had it they did say they would try to get it in.

Sitting in the row behind me a lady said it was her 3rd show, she “loved Kris to bits” and was going to all 5 shows from the bottom to the top of New Zealand. Envy from me!

During the standing ovation at the end, I was delighted to see my sophisticated step-son clapping, stamping, and yahoo-ing his enjoyment of the show along with the rest of us.

On the way out I was embarrassed to find myself patting Judy’s arm as I told her I had my photo taken with Scott, and how wonderful the show was. She’s just that kind of person – just lovely. Judy and Scott are a great couple.

Other Fans Agree

Love your post. I went to four out of five concerts in New Zealand. Each one was awesome and memorable to me! Wellington definitely was the best. The interaction with Kris and Scott was awesome & so was the crowd. I took three family members who are now number one fans! The band was a huge blessing. New Zealand thanks you for travelling to far. We love & appreciate Kris Kristofferson & the Strangers!

Kris Kristofferson, Tom Ghent and John Lincoln Wright 1986

Kristofferson and Ghent 1986

Stagecoach, Blood and Orchids and the Last days of Jesse James were released, the miniseries Amerika was in production. The album, Repossessed, hit the stores. Kris Kristofferson was as busy in 1986 as he is today.

Moments that Matter

Life is made up of many moments. Even in 1986, Kris kept some time aside for himself, his friends, fellow songwriters and performers.

Kristofferson and Ghent (who wrote the song Whiskey, Whiskey which Kris recorded) had a surprise encounter.

This was taken backstage at a bandshell concert in Webster Ma. in 1986…..
Much to everyone’s surprise and delight, Kris had walked out on stage and joined me as I was singing “Whiskey Whiskey” In this photo, I have just introduced him to the late John Lincoln Wright who was sharing the bill with me.

Rita Coolidge Whiskey, Whiskey

I was really surprised many years ago, when I opened Billboard and saw a two page ad for the release of Rita’s single of my song “Whiskey Whiskey”

Tom Ghent

The song appeared on Rita’s 1972 album, The Lady’s Not For Sale. Priscilla Coolidge and Booker T Jones perform My Crew, on the same album.

Kris and Babs Hyde Park 2019

Kris and Babs, Kristofferson and Streisand – It was a long time coming, but well worth the wait.

Behind the Scenes

Thank you to Scott Joss for opening his album. Everyone looking in great fettle and high spirits at Hyde Park.

From the Audience

Welcome, Barbra Streisand

Kristofferson Joined Streisand

Kristofferson has been really working it. He’s just finished the UK leg of of his Europe Tour, preparations are underway for an extended tour to Australia and New Zealand – But he made the time.

Kristofferson joined Streisand in Hyde Park this weekend. Neil McCormick tweeted that when Kris saw the crowd, he said that he “Never knew there were this many people in the world.”

No wonder. 65000 people is quite a gathering -, especially in a park.

Barbra brought Kris onto the stage saying, “one of my favorite leading men… Here’s a song that we sang together in the movie, right? I love this song,”

Lost Inside of You

They did it. They sang some material from their version of A Star is Born. Mostly, they were simply great together and it was like watching very dear friends having fun.

43 years peeled back, and the same magic that captivated movie audiences back in 1976 did it again.
